A wonderful large 1963 format pictorial map illustrating the history of England and Wales drawn by Leslie Bullock. The map coves all of England and Scotland with historical locations and events illustrated pictorially in the form of charming cartoon vignettes. The map is surrounded by the armorial crests of England's most important cities. Bartholomew issued this maps as part of a series of by Bullock that include a similarly styled maps of the world, Scotland, Ireland, and London. All are similarly rich with detail. The present example may have been first published as early as 1961 and, proving popular, was reissued with minor changes into the 1970s. The present example is the 1863 edition.
